Over the last decade, widespread technological advances have led to a massive explosion in the data generated and retained by institutions, companies and individuals. As data becomes increasingly integral in understanding the complexities of the modern business ecosystem, the demand for data scientists has never been higher.
For this inaugural session of the World Data Science Forum, we emphasise the theme of data science as an essential element in the evolution of the world and its technology. Through this event, our aim is to provide opportunities to share case studies and applications of data science from the viewpoints of multiple perspectives – particularly in the context of state-of-the-art technology in fields related to data science; such as AI, IoT, and the blockchain.
bitgrit is an Asia-based network platform geared towards data scientists. In utilising the capabilities of blockchain technology, bitgrit develops mechanisms that allow for the optimal application of data science and AI within the context of society. By empowering the exchange of information among data scientists and building a decentralised, token economy-based AI marketplace, bitgrit will provide a variety of work opportunities online and on a global scale; while also making it possible to quantify value and the abilities of data providers and data scientists. We form this community as an arena for technological innovation where data scientists can develop new technologies in an open environment – and in doing so, we contribute to the development of society at large.
